Commitment to Community
Welcome to
Belleville, Michigan.

The variety of events taking place over three days of the National
Strawberry Festival appeal to the young and young at heart. The Festival's
broad audience and safe atmosphere offer sponsors a unique opportunity to reach a strong family oriented market,
resulting in measurable advertising benefits and excellent business
opportunities. The Belleville National Strawberry Festival Board is
committed to working with the community in an ever expanding partnership of
corporations, businesses and individuals. We will effectively promote
sponsor recognition and community involvement through television, radio,
print and direct distribution media. This reaffirms the Festival's
appreciation of sponsor support. It is these efforts, combined with an
outstanding Festival line-up that makes the Strawberry Festival a well
attended and received event in our community.
History
In 1976 a local farmer approached area community leaders with the
idea of starting an annual event promoting the strawberry crops. With the
assistance of the Belleville Area Chamber of Commerce, local strawberry
growers, and Saint Anthony's Catholic Church, the Belleville National
Strawberry Festival began that same year. With the vision and goal of assisting
Belleville's community service organizations with their fundraising efforts,
the National Strawberry Festival has successfully raised funds for over 40
community service organizations. For three days each year, the Belleville
National Strawberry Festival transforms the town of Belleville into a
strawberry wonderland. The Festival attracts over 200,000 people from
throughout Southeastern Michigan with free entertainment, attractions and
events, not to mention every type of strawberry treat imaginable. The
Festival truly is the ultimate for having a berry good time! |

STRAWBERRIES STRAWBERRIES STRAWBERRIES
2009
Trinity Episcopal Church is a great place to visit during the festival, featuring a large indoor/outdoor craft fair and plenty of strawberry treats!
Craft booths are located both inside the parish hall and outside on the lawns in a beautiful environment of trees, flowers, and green grass. After making purchases from the select group of crafters, visitors are drawn by th e delectable fragrance of sloppy joes coming from the restaurant. Here they can dine on strawberry shortcake which is baked fresh daily, ice cream sundaes topped with fresh strawberries or hot fudge, pieces of strawberry pie or cheesecake (made from scratch), and many other delicious entrees and desserts.
While enjoying their meals, visitors are entertained (schedule and times coming in 2009) on both Saturday and Sunday. Face painting is also available, free of charge. Before leaving Trinity, visitors can stop at the strawberry bakery, which features homemade strawberry pies, cheesecakes, jam, muffins, tarts, and strawberry bread to take home.
All these special festival foods are created by many Trinity volunteers during several long days of preparation. One day is devoted to making 200 pounds of sloppy joes. Other days are devoted to making pie crusts and rolling pies for 350 strawberry pies, preparing cheesecakes, and baking over 1000 fresh, homemade shortcakes. Strawberry freezer jam and strawberry bread are prepared by a group of energetic ladies who have been doing this task for many years. Dedicated workers hull fresh berries daily, and 1500 pounds of luscious, red berries will be served during the three days of the festival.
Trinity Episcopal Church contributes one half of its festival proceeds to parish outreach projects, including Cropwalk, Helping Hand food closet, Adopt-a Child Size, Girlstown, Detroit Soup Kitchen, Katrina and Tsunami relief, and Habitat for Humanity.
Trinity Parish has been involved in the Belleville Area Strawberry Festival for 30 years and looks forward to meeting and greeting the thousands of visitors who will enjoy its hospitality during strawberry
weekend!
